Hello there!

My name is Christopher Lawrence, and I am the chef and owner of Cream Of The Crop, Personal Chef & Catering. Where it all began - I grew up 45 minutes south of Washington DC in the small town of La Plata. I began working in restaurants when I was in my early teens, starting at the bottom and working my way through the ranks. I attended the local vocational school studying culinary arts, bounced around from crab shack to fine dining, finally landing myself in a local waterfront restaurant and tiki bar.
Realizing I had a passion for the arts, specifically Culinary & Hospitality I pursued furthering my education and went off to Johnson & Wales University - Charlotte, NC where I obtained my B.S. in Culinary Arts & Food Service Management focusing on Entrepreneurship.
Continuing my education through on-the-job training, working in some of the hottest night clubs, to the top caterer in Charlotte, NC, one day I was offered what I thought would be the dream job of a lifetime as the General Manager and Chef of a local restaurant in Southern Maryland. So, I quickly picked up and moved back to my hometown of La Plata. I worked in this position for about three years, experiencing opportunities like catering for local businesses, private dining, government fundraisers, book clubs, festivals and private house parties along with regular restaurant and nightlife hours. As many great things do come to an end I was able to move my career to another local restaurant in the heart of Washington DC. I worked as a General Manager of a restaurant on Capitol Hill focusing on New England Beach Fare. In this position I was able to learn the in's and out's of working with some of the freshest seafood, managing a top notch bar program, hosting beautiful cocktail mixer-style events, and volunteering for fundraising in our community all while mentoring an up-and-coming chef.
I am now here to plant my roots and grow a business of my own. I am looking forward to providing the absolute most memorable and personalized experience possible for you and your guest. Thank you for choosing Cream of the Crop!
